PERSPECTIVES ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENERGY

January 17, 2019 @ 11:00 am - January 18, 2019 @ 1:30 pm

Alaska is seen as being on the front lines of Climate Change.  There is science supporting all the various attitudes toward climate change and there are consequences for any particular actions that may be taken to deal with climate change whether to adapt to the changes or to try to prevent future change.  As engineers we must apply science based principles to the problems with which we are challenged with consideration of cost, schedule, effectiveness, consequences and the people involved.  Since energy and power generation are a significant part of the topic impacted by the climate change concerns, electrical engineers will be at the forefront of an conversion on the issue.  Conversation is what we need to have between those with opposing and conflicting views of climate change and it should be dealt with.

Steve Goreham will present a discussion about climate change, hydrocarbon and renewable energy, and public policy. During his presentation his focus will be on Environmental Common Sense to include Sustainable Development, Economic Trends, Climate Change, Energy and the Environment.  Join us to help begin the conversation we need to work out a real sustainable plan for the future.

There will be a charge at the door for a Hot Plated Lunch.  $27 for IEEE members,   $15 for IEEE Student members and $32 for Non Members.
