Cedar Rapids Section of the IEEE is awarded 2011 Region 4 Outstanding Small Section

Robert Bruckman, 2012 Cedar Rapids Section Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Chair, accepted the Region 4 Outstanding Small Section Award on January 21st, 2012 at the IEEE Region 4 Meeting in Minneapolis, MN.The award recognizes the excellent work of the Cedar Rapids Section during the past year.It is based on required section information submission to IEEE Headquarters, retention of members, new affinity group formations, Active Student Branch activity, recruitment of student members, continuing educational activities including conferences, technical activities, and training courses.

The Cedar Rapids Section of the IEEE is composed of approximately 500 members in Eastern Iowa residing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Waterloo and surrounding areas.Our professionals work in their respective disciplines of engineering, computer science, education, project management, manufacturing, quality assurance, marketing, biomedicine, and energy production amoung others.The Cedar Rapids Section IEEE website is http://ieee-cr-section.org

Region 4 IEEE is comprised of 23 IEEE Sections and 3 IEEE Subsections in 10 Central US States.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is an umbrella organization for professional working in many high tech disciplines. The IEEE is the worlds largest professional association for the advancement of technology. Iowa has a major part in this association with the Cedar Rapids Section and the contributions have just been recognized, against competition from as far away as Chicago.

This recognition is a welcome reminder that high tech is not just in Silicon Valley,  but is alive and well in our community.
