During 1944 Ted Hunter became the driving force behind the formation of the Cedar Rapids Section of the Institute of Radio Engineers (the predecessor of the IEEE).  He was primarily responsible for the rapid growth and solid organization of this section.

The Cedar Rapids Section’s Ted A. Hunter Award is given in recognition of outstanding individual service in furthering the purposes and objectives of the Cedar Rapids Section and IEEE.

Tim Schoenfelder receives this award for his numerous years of dedication to the Section.  He has served the section as Section Vice-Chair, Section Chair, Chair of the Nominating Committee, Chair of the Awards Committee, and most recently as Programs Chair for the Section.  Tim was the driving force for the Section’s submission of it’s entry into the IEEE-USA 2013 contest for a short video showcasing the Section’s PACE activities.  These activities encompassed Member professional development, career assistance, pre-college outreach, legislative policy advocacy and promotion of public image of IEEE.
