The University of Iowa Student Branch is hosting a tour of the Helium Cluster!

Helium Cluster

The Helium cluster provides high throughput or high performance computing which utilizes multiple processors to perform concurrent jobs in parallel. These resources can help significantly speed up scientific computations.
High performance computing is focused on providing researchers with tools to solve computationally intensive problems. Some common uses of the system are computational fluid dynamics, molecular modeling, bioinformatics, and climate modeling.
In collaboration with other units on campus ITS-Research Services runs and supports two HPC systems to meet the high performance computing and high throughput computing needs of the campus. The largest of these system is the Helium cluster which contains 400 computers and 3800 processor cores. The Helium cluster is open to all University of Iowa faculty and students (with approval of a faculty sponsor). Access to the Helium cluster and basic user support are provided at no cost at this time. The Neon cluster is a smaller, but newer system composed of 2500 processor cores and systems with up to 512GB of memory.

Space is currently limited to 30 attendees therefore make sure to register soon!
