  • IEEE Central Illinois Section April 2024 Excom Meeting: On Tuesday, April 2nd 2024 the IEEE Central Illinois Section (CILS) will meet online via Webex.  These executive committee (Excom) meetings generally revolve around upcoming meetings and volunteer opportunties.  For a complete and up-to-date listing of all upcoming Excom meetings, please see vtools.ieee.org.
  • IEEE CILS December 2017 Meeting #2: Thursday, December 7th at 6:00 pm. Dr. Mohammad S. Imtiaz of Bradley University will present an overview of the heart from an electrical perspective. Examples of aberrant electrical/chemical events will be presented that can result in diseases and life-threatening events, such as cardiac arrhythmia. Emerging results from his ongoing research will be presented to show how we are using mathematical modeling, machine learning, and high-performance computing to accelerate discovery of novel cures and drugs.   • IEEE CILS December 2017 Meeting #1: Wednesday, December 6th at 6:00 pm. Drs. Elliackin Messias Figueiredo and Hugo Valadares Siqueira are Brazilian Visiting Scholars in the Department of Technology at Illinois State University. They will talk about Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Applications on Clustering, Classification and Feature Selection. Click here to for details and to register.
  • IEEE CILS November 2016 Meeting: Wednesday, November 9th at 6:30 pm. Dr. Kiruba Haran from the University of Illinois ECE Department will give a tech talk entitled, “High Specific-Power Machines and Drives for Aircraft Propulsion”.   • IEEE CILS April Meeting: Tuesday, April 19th, 2016, 6-8 pm. ECE Professor George Gross will give a presentation titled, A Practical Framework for the Implementation of the Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) Concept. The meeting will be held in Champaign-Urbana in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Building (ECEB) Room 5070.   • After our IEEE Day event, the next IEEE CILS meeting will be on Tuesday, October 20th, 2015 in the new ECE Building on the University of Illinois campus.   • CILS is hosting an IEEE Day event on Tuesday, October 6th, 2015 at Bradley University in Peoria. Mechanical Engineering Professor Shannon Timpe will present his research on Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS). We will also have some IEEE giveaways and a tour of Professor Timpe’s MEMS lab.
