Static Var Compensator

Abstract: “Large growth of power system size and capacity necessitates application of Flexible AC Transmission Systems to increase reliability and improve performance of the grid. Among FACTS devices, Static Var Compensator has the most application with more than a thousand installations in the world both in distribution and transmission systems. This lecture is an introduction to different types of SVC along with their application as well as a comparison in terms of performance, cost and reliability.”
