Tiejun J. Xia, PhD & OSA Fellow

(March 21, 2014)

Abstract

Put simply, innovation is just making things different but better. Innovation is important not only in new technology and new product development, but also in work efficiency improvement and job accomplishment enhancement. Nobody questions why innovation is important but so many people wonder how to make innovation happen. In this talk, the speaker is going to share a simple method, called S.A.M.I., which can help new idea generation and problem solving, based on his multi-year experience in innovation technique study and as a holder of more than 80 granted or pending US patents. At the event, the speaker will also introduce a new program – Dallas Innovation Synergy (DIS) – of Dallas Technology Management Council in the IEEE Dallas Section to the audience. The goal of the program is to help members in the local IEEE community share their innovation experiences and to generate more valuable new ideas.
