Women in Engineering PANEL at NAECON 2017

Fostering the Next Generation of Women Scientists, Technologists, Engineers, and Mathematicians

Join us for an inspiring afternoon with five prominent women in STEM from the local area. Hear how they decided to embark on careers in STEM and what you can do to encourage the next generation of women scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians.

 

 

  • The panel session during NAECON 2017 includes a variety of women from industry, academia, and government: Dr. Cassie Barlow, Dr. Emily Fehrman-Cory, Ms. Jackie Janning-Lask, Ms. Patricia Ryan, and Dr. Sandra Specht.
  • Price: $25 for IEEE Members, and $35 for non-IEEE members. Price includes a buffet lunch and access to the afternoon NAECON networking and poster session.

ProtopicsAll IEEE Members are invited to join us for this casual dinner/drinks and celebrate IEEE Day (Celebrating the first time in history when engineers worldwide and IEEE members gathered to share their technical ideas in 1884).  This year we will be celebrating a bit late but with just as much fun!

  • Pizza dinner and drinks sponsored by IEEE Dayton Section, Women in Engineering-Young Professionals (WIE-YP) Affinity Group & Dayton Section PEAL Chapter
  • IEEE members will be entered in a drawing for several free 90 minute 3D printing sessions (may be used during or after event)
  • All attendees may use the workbenches for projects (FCFS) during the event without the usual $25/hour bench rental cost (bring your own kits or purchase onsite)
  • 3D printing demonstrations and 3D printed door prizes celebrating IEEE
  • 25% off 3D printing sessions (usually $20 per 90 minute print – bring your own STL or OBJ file or create on site). Visit thingiverse.com and tinkercad.com to find and modify designs. Bring on USB flash drive to event.
  • Price: Free to IEEE members and one guest / $10 non-IEEE – Waived if you join IEEE at event! (preregister and pay at door)

Felicia Harlow, IEEE Dayton Section Secretary, Receives 2016 WIE Honorable Mention

Congratulations to Felicia Harlow, the IEEE Dayton Section Secretary, for receiving an Honorable Mention from IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Committee for the 2016 WIE Inspiring Member of the Year Award!  Felicia is recognized for her effort in “increasing public awareness of women’s role in the engineering profession and in IEEE WIE, and inspiring others to take on leadership, through her diligent work and dedication to the IEEE WIE mission.”  Felicia will receive a $250 cash prize, a Certificate of Recognition, one complimentary pass to attend the 2017 WIE International Leadership Conference, and financial support of up to $1000 to attend the 2017 WIE International Leadership Conference.  The 2017 WIE International Leadership Conference will take place 22-23 May 2017 in the capital of Silicon Valley, San Jose, CA, with a theme of “Lead Beyond. Accelerating Innovative Women Who Change the World”  Great work Felicia!  We look forward to great things for IEEE Women in Engineering and for the IEEE Dayton Section!
