Thanks to everyone who came out to the Awards and Recognition Banquet this weekend at Mez!

On May 12, ENCS held their annual Awards and Recognition banquet at the MEZ Restaurant in Durham, NC. This event is held to honor those IEEE ENCS members who have distinguished themselves through their professional activities and contributions to the engineering profession. This years’ honorees included the following:

* Outstanding Volunteers – Mary Ellen Randall, Past Chair and Region 3 Director Elect, and Paul Goodson, Past Chair and PACE Chair. For organizing the 2011 section retreat and 2012 leadership event.

* 2011/2012 Fellows – newly elevated Fellows honored included Veena Mishra, Dev Palmer, and Michael Devetsikiotis (see presentation ppt for a full list of ENCS 2011/2012 fellows).

* 2011/2012 Senior Members – newly elevated Senior Members included Rhett Davis, Russ Frazier, Michael Papazoglou, and Zhi “George” Gao. (see presentation ppt for a full list).

* Life Member – John Held, long-time ENCS member and past chair.

Mary Ellen Randall also presented Dev Palmer with an award from Region 3 Director David Green for his service as Region 3 Awards and Recognition chair.

As Dev Palmer pointed out, we have an unusually high percentage of members who have achieved higher grades of membership through their professional achievements. Thanks to all the members and guests who attended – this is a great opportunity to honor our distinguished members!

Welcome to the new IEEE ENCS Website

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Hello, world! Starting here in 2012, we’re going to try to rebuild the IEEE ENCS’s web presence with this new website. We’re still getting settled in, so if you have any suggestions, please share your thoughts with us.

If you are part of the IEEE ENCS or one of its Society or Affinity Groups and would like to make an announcement on the website, please contact the site webmaster directly.

The primary purpose of the site is to make all of the upcoming events available in a single spot, making it easy to keep up with where the section is at any given moment. We also provide an place for our technical societies and affinity groups to advertise themselves to the rest of the section. Let us know how we can make this web space useful for you!
