Webinar: Pitfalls of a Perfect Life, and Advantages of Letting Go

March 2, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm CST

Pitfalls of a Perfect Life, and Advantages of Letting Go

Presenter: Nancy Martin, Manager, Technical Development, GE Global Research Center
Date: 2 March 2017
Time: 2:00 – 3:00 PM EST

Overview

Perfectionism served many of us well while we grew up. It allowed us to go to the best schools and get the best jobs. Yet, once we are in the “real” world, perfectionism often leads us to a life of working too hard, enjoying too little, and feeling like nothing is ever good enough. Add to that that “perfect” is now measured in more subjective ways (we don’t take tests at work), and you can find yourself working more than ever before.

About the Presenter

For more than 30 years, Nancy has worked for GE and held management positions primarily in engineering and research. She currently works at GE’s Global Research Center in Niskayuna, N.Y., where she leads technical education for the company, including the Edison Engineering Program. GE is a high tech company with over 55,000 technologists.

Nancy graduated from Clarkson University with a mathematics degree, and from Syracuse University with a Master’s degree in electrical engineering.

Nancy is married with two children, and enjoys speaking on topics like work/life balance, self-confidence, perfectionism, and finding career passion.
