Future of Rockets – Eric Berger

On January 25, 2018  Eric Berger gave a presentation titled Future of Rockets to the IEEE Technical Meeting held at HESS Club. Eric is a senior space editor at Ars Technica.

He shared some interesting facts related to upcoming launch technologies of government and private rockets which are going to prevail in the 2020s. For example, NASA is building a massive heavy lift rocket called the Space Launch System while SpaceX and Blue Origin are also building rockets nearly as powerful.

After the presentation, IEEE members engaged in a constructive discussion with Eric on why the government rock systems are expendable whereas the private rockets are reusable. We had a great turnout and everyone enjoyed their dinner along with the talk.
