IEEE Houston Section Holiday Celebration
On December 7, 2017, the IEEE Houston Section held its annual Holiday Celebration meeting at the United Way of Greater Houston premises. Sandra L. “Candy” Robinson from Lockheed Martin gave a presentation on “F-35 Program Overview”. She presented the features and current status of the F-35 fighter jet, as well as a look ahead to activities in 2018 and beyond.
The contributions of the 2017 IEEE Houston Section Corporate partners were recognized, who have supported the section Societies and Communities in a number of volunteer and community outreach activities.
IEEE Power & Energy Society Scholarship Fund of the IEEE Foundation awarded the PES Scholarship for the year 2018 to Rosario Diaz from University of Houston. The PES scholarship is given to undergraduate students majoring in electrical engineering, who are high achievers with strong GPAs with distinctive extracurricular commitments and are committed to exploring the power and energy field.
We had a great turn out and everyone enjoyed their dinner catered by Peli Peli.
A special door prize was given to Rosario Diaz as the best Ugly Sweater winner.
