Alabama Regional Future City Competition
January 13 @ 7:30 am - 5:00 pm
The Alabama Regional Future City Competition (ARFCC) will be held on Saturday, January 13th 2018 at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center’s – Davidson Center for Space Exploration in Huntsville, Alabama. This will be our 16th year hosting the Alabama Regional event and the 26th anniversary for the Future City Nationals in Washington, D.C. We will have 19 schools competing this year from several Alabama cities. Of course, we all know that more team participation means we will need MORE observers. That means we need YOU!
Please come out to view the models and ask the students questions about their futuristic city designs. They LOVE to talk to folks about how they planned, designed and built their projects.
The Alabama Regional Future City Competition is a state-wide, project-based learning experience where students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade imagine, design, and build cities of the future. Students work as a team with an educator and engineer mentor to plan cities using SimCity™ software; research and write solutions to an engineering problem; build tabletop scale models with recycled materials; and present their ideas before judges and other local attendees. This competition has grown to 38 regions across the nation.
