The Coordinator Pattern

March 8, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

For iOS development, Apple still holds firm to the model-view-controller (MVC) design pattern — despite its obvious flaws. The developer community knows this and has developed numerous architectures for sane mobile development including MVVM, MVP, and VIPER. But for me, the most intriguing alternative pattern is the Coordinator or Flow Coordinator. Like it sounds, a flow coordinator handles an app’s navigational flow while completely decoupling view-controller objects from each other. It is also works extremely well for A/B testing. In this talk, I will give an overview of the Coordinator pattern and show how it can be used to greatly simplify app development.
