IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists. It is a volunteer organisation, made up of individuals who want to contribute to the local and international engineering community

RECOGNIZES women’s outstanding achievements in electrical and electronics engineering through IEEE Awards nominations.

ORGANIZES receptions at major technical conferences to enhance networking and to promote membership in WIE.

ADVOCATE women in leadership roles in IEEE governance and career advancement for women in the profession.

PROVIDES assistance with the formation of new WIE Affinity Groups and supports ongoing activities.

PROMOTES IEEE Member Grade advancement for women to the grades of Senior Member and Fellow.

FACILITATES the development of programs and activities that promote the entry into and retention of women in engineering programs.

ADMINISTERS the IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Program to mentor young women in junior and high schools.

 WIE HYDERABAD

    The WIE Affinity Group of the IEEE Hyderabad Section was formed in 2008 as an initiative by Mr.Nookala Srinivas Rao as the mentor of WIE Hyderabad and the then SAC for the Section. The Hyderabad Section hosted the All India Women’s Congress during that time. Later, Dr.Madhumita Chakravarti, Research Scientist at RCI took forward the group as WIE Chair person. The WIE Group now has a team of 12 enthusiastic student volunteers along with some GOLD and professional members who have been contributing to the excelling of the group since mid 2010.
   WIE Hyderabad Section has recently been selected as the 2011 IEEE R10 Women In Engineering Group of the year. WIE Hyderabad has hosted two onal Congresses in Hyderabad and Warangal, conducted many other events. In the coming days, WIE Hyderabad will be hosting the IEEE R10 All Women’s Congress in March 2012.
