ACADEMIC SKILL DEVELOPMENT-2: CRO Workshop

EVENT DESCRIPTION:
The CRO Workshop was held in order to explain its working and features. CRO is an electronic display device containing a cathode ray tube (CRT) that generates an electric beam that is used to produce visible patterns, or graphs, on a fluorescent screen. The graphs plot the relationship between two or more variables, with the horizontal axis normally being a function of time and the vertical axis usually a function of the voltage generated by the input signal to the oscilloscope. The main components of the device are Cathode ray tube (CRT), electron gun, a system for focusing and deflecting the electron beam, and a screen which is a visual representation of the voltages applied to the deflection plates. The CRO is one of the most widely used test instruments: its commercial, engineering, and scientific applications include acoustic research, television-production engineering, and electronics design.

EVENT MOTIVE:
The main aim of the event was to make the students get an idea of the components of a CRO and their working. All graduates must learn this simulation at an early phase to acquaint with future academics. IEEE IAS SB also conversed Multimeter and Soldering Technique so that students can understand tools in deep and can use in their future endeavors.

EVENT OVERVIEW:
The event started at 4:00 PM by welcoming our respected lecturer Mr. Pavan Venkata and among the audience was students of Electrical batch 17. Pavan Sir began his lecture by giving a brief introduction to Multimeter and its basic applications.

Then he continued with a detailed explanation of CRO components and working and other aspects of the same. Various sample outputs in detail were taught to students. At 5 PM, the instructions were complete and the students were asked to take a couple of readings for different values of applied voltage to understand the working of the multi-meter and CRO practically. During this time, IAS members guided the students under the supervision of the lecturer. In the end, there was a doubt session and then the organizers presented the professor and laboratory assistants with a memento and thanked them for the enriching session. Students also got a chance to have hands-on soldering technique. Students did soldering to prepare circuit to light a LED in series with a resistor on general purpose board.
