Cleanup drive after flood

Aranmula, located on the banks of the holy river Pampa is famous for the tourist attraction ‘Vallam Kali’, (Snakeboat race) conducting annually. Aranmula is a global heritage site enlisted by the United Nations. Due to the unusually heavy rain and flood faced by our state Kerala in the month of August 2018, Aranmula panchayat was severely affected and isolated.

A mass team of 220 volunteers including students and staff from UKF College selflessly worked hard for two days to clean a CBSE school (Mar Thoma Senior Secondary School) and nearly 20 houses in Aranmula Panchayat. The two floors of the school were completely submerged for 3 days and that shows the severity of calamity. The cleanup drive happened in the midst of contagious diseases and collapsed ground after heavy rain and flood. IEEE IAS SB members jointly participated in the drive along with others students and faculties of UKF College.
