Summary: A session to elaborate solving of the distinct problems and giving rise to innovations in an individual’s life.
IEEE-PES & IAS joint student branch chapter in collaboration with IEEE WIE organized a talk on “Innovation Growth Mindsets” on the 19th of February from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm at Rama Hall in Amrita School of Engineering, Bangalore. The speaker of the talk was Dr. Kumudhini Ravindra, an Innovation Researcher, Coach and Design Thinker, Innomantra.
Dr. Kumudhini Ravindra has over eighteen years of multidisciplinary experience. She has worked in Innovation Management and Design Thinking Methodology, Technology Management, Knowledge Management, e-learning, Academia, and Business Research. She has a Ph.D. in Energy Modeling and Management from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India. She holds an MBA from the Department of Management Studies, IISc and a BE (Electrical & Electronics) from UVCE, Bangalore University, and was an exchange student at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in 2010. She is a University rank holder and has won several accolades over the years.
She commenced the talk with the basic definition of innovation and the various parameters which are dependent on it. She discussed the different problems occurring in various fields of engineering. She further exhibited various videos elucidating the concepts of failures and innovations in an individual’s life. She elaborated the pre-requisites required for innovation some of which were creativity, time, experimentation, time and failure. Then she conducted a Mindset Quiz for the students to categorize their mindsets as per the scores that they got.
The talk culminated on a high note with the students have gained a brief idea on the notion of innovation and implementing it in their life in an effective way.
