IEEE IAS DAIICT Student Branch Chapter celebrated IAS day on 20th June 2019. Although the IAS Day is actually celebrated on 15th June every year to commemorate the establishment of the IEEE IAS DA-IICT Student Branch Chapter in 2012 by Ms. Megha Tak. We collaborated with the Summer School ’19 organized by the IEEE DAIICT Student Branch from 17th-23rd June and to take it up a notch, we decided to celebrate it during the Summer School days. IAS DA-IICT Day was celebrated at Lecture Theatre-1 of DAIICT, the celebration was commemorated by around 83 enthusiastic participants and IEEE DA-IICT Student Branch ExeComm members.

The event was basically divided into 3 main parts.

Part-1: Brief history of IEEE IAS

The celebration commenced at 5.00 pm with the welcome speech by Ms. Raksha Rank, the current Chairperson of the IEEE IAS DAIICT Student Branch Chapter. Along with history, works of IAS DA-IICT SBC, she gave a brief about the upcoming major events and shared her vision and plans as a chairperson. Some of the events discussed were Tachyon ’19, which took place recently and others included were the in vogue topics such as 3D printing, sensors, webinars, etc. She also discussed the benefits of being a member of IEEE IAS and encouraged the non-members in taking the membership.

Part-2: The Fun Quiz segment

The next part was the Fun Quiz created by the IEEE IAS DA-IICT ExeComm. It was specially curated for the students at the IAS Day celebrations and had questions from all general topics. Although being a Fun Quiz, the questions activated the dormant grey cells of the participants and the timer challenged their speed. The quiz was hosted on /Kahoot and had questions on different topics like mathematics, tech questions, code decoding, and general knowledge.

It was really enlightening experience and all the participants really enjoyed it. The top 5 participants of the quiz competition were felicitated by IAS DAIICT SBC with IAS t-shirts. Later we had a group photo with the flex.

Part-3: The Campus Photography Competition

This was the last segment of the IAS Day celebration. In the end, a campus photography competition was announced wherein the participants had to send pictures of the DAIICT campus captured by them. This competition was solely for encouraging the participants to explore the natural beauty of the campus and to enhance the photography skills of the students. The participants were also allowed to send edited pictures along with the original one which would also improve their editing skills. The deadline was 23rd June, 12 noon. In this competition also the best 5 entries won and were awarded the prizes which were IEEE IAS t-shirts on the last day of Summer School ’19.

This marked the end of a glorious celebration of the IAS DA-IICT DAY 2019.
