Authors and makers/practitioners of VR/AR and other 3d and online training tools are invited to submit to this special session, to be run in association with the IEEE VR Accessibility Standards Working Group. The aim is to discuss the need to provide training tools to bring new developers to the AR/VR community and to inform the development and use of AR/VR tools and techniques within an Inclusive Design methodology that ensures a ‘1 size fits 1’ model supporting the most diverse society of makers, doers and users of technology for training across disciplines and age groups.
Papers and practical presentations of new tools including MOOCS, AR apps et al are invited. Each submission should identify the user group it serves, with a note of any sensory, physical, cognitive or learning issues to be addressed.

|Prof. Lizbeth Goodman is Chair of Creative Technology Innovation and Full Professor of Inclusive Design at University College Dublin, where she directs SMARTlab and the Inclusive Design Research Centre of Ireland at UCD, and is an Executive Board member of the Innovation. For UCD she directs the INCLUDE (Inclusive Design Engineering) AR/VR Future Impact Labs Project with industry, focusing on the implementation of diversity, access and inclusion initiatives and educational and pedagogic strategy globally, and also serves as Academic Chair and co-PI on the Marie Curie ASSISTID Programme (Assistive Technology for People with Intellectual Disabilities/Autism) for the DOCTRID Research Institute and Respect: the first top tier research institute bridging the Republic and Northern Ireland. Also on behalf of UCD and the national universities network, she was elected to Chair the Social Sciences Panel of the Royal Irish Academy in 2012, and chaired the Board of Judges and Evaluators for the European Commission’s HERA (Humanities in the European Research Area) competitive funding calls in 2013-14. She is Vice President of the IEEE VSMM (Virtual Systems and Multimedia) Conference.
Previously, she was Director of Research for Futurelab – Lord David Puttnam’s thinktank for the future of education in the UK- and served in that capacity on the Prime Minister’s SHINE Panel to help select and support gifted creatives of all ages, across all disciplines.
In 2008, she was awarded the top industry prizes for Best Woman in the Academic and Public Sectors, and Outstanding Woman in Technology by Blackberry Rim. Most recently, she was selected by a global panel of industry, academic and NGO experts as one of the CSR Global Top 50 Most Talented Social Innovators: awarded in Mumbai in February 2015. Back in 2003, Lifetime TV broadcast a tribute Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteer Service to Women and Children for her work on SafetyNET, announced by billboard in Times Square. She came third nationally in the recent Global Enterprise Awards for Ireland, for her work in setting up and running virtual campuses and virtual training centres for learners of all levels of ability around the world using bespoke creative technology tools informed by visual arts, performance arts and design applied to the assistive technology sector.
Originally trained as an artist and performance practitioner in theatre, design and multimedia screen direction, and having earned several degrees in those creative fields, she later went on to apply her knowledge of the Arts and Design to the field of STEAM education. she is well known as an expert in Inclusive Learning and Assistive Technologies to support inclusive communication and learning for all, as well as in interdisciplinary Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation, with a focus on Art-Technology initiatives including STEAM challenges as they impact on the lives of diverse communities, globally.
She and her SMARTlab team have developed numerous creative educational technology tools and convergent media solutions to the challenges of teaching and learning across all disciplines, using the Arts and Design to inform and connect people and projects in preparation for the next wave of creative/cultural models and jobs of the future. This work supports a diverse and rapidly changing demographic addressing the challenges of learning and defining moments of cultural and personal or community meaning in the 21st century, for people of all ages and levels of ability.
|Jacquelyn Ford Morie is an artist, scientist and educator working in the areas of immersive worlds, games and social networks. Until 2013 she was a Senior Research Scientist at the Institute for Creative Technologies. In 2013 she started a spin-off company called All These Worlds, to take her work in virtual worlds and avatars to a broader audience.
Jacquelyn was formally trained as an artist and medical illustrator but ultimately decided to pursue fine art. Her Bachelor's degree in Fine Art was awarded cum laude by Florida Atlantic University in 1981. She next received a Master's degree in Fine Art from the University of Florida in 1984, studying with noted photographer Jerry Uelsmann.
She studied computer graphics at the University of Florida, under Professor John Staudhammer and received her Masters in Computer Science from University of Florida in 1988. Morie received her PhD from SmartLab at the University of East London in 2008 in immersive environments
