IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society (UFFC-S)

Registered student attendees of the 2015 Joint ISAF-ISIF-PFM Conference are invited by Dr. Jian-yu Lu, President of the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control Society (UFFC-S) to a President’s Student Reception.

The President’s Student Reception will be held on May 24th, from 4:45 PM to 5:45 PM, in the 2015 Joint ISAF-ISIF-PFM Conference. Light refreshments will be provided . This reception is a good opportunity for students to network with each other and meet the leaders of the UFFC-S.

IEEE is the largest technical society in the world. It consists of more than 40 societies and councils with a membership over 400,000. The UFFC Society, with more than 2,000 members, is one of the IEEE societies.

According to the UFFC-S Constitution, the fields of interest of the UFFC-S shall include theory, technology, materials, and applications relating to:

  • The generation, transmission, and detection of ultrasonic waves and related phenomena.
  • Medical ultrasound and associated technologies.
  • Ferroelectric, piezoelectric, and piezomagnetic materials.
  • Frequency generation and control, timing, and time coordination and distribution.

The UFFC-S sponsors and organizes three annual symposia whose locations are rotated around the world. Three proceedings, one from each symposium, are published and are accessible from IEEE Xplore. The three symposia are well attended by both members and non-members. The IEEE International Symposium on Applications of Ferroelectrics is one of the three UFFC-S sponsored symposia.

The UFFC-S publishes an archival journal: IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control (TUFFC). This is a premier journal in its respective areas and may be accessed via IEEE Xplore.

The UFFC-S is a volunteer-based society. It constantly looks for volunteers to help its governance, symposia, and publications. Please contact Dr. Jian-yu Lu, the symposia leaders, or publication editors if you are interested in helping. To learn more or join the UFFC-S, go to www.ieee-uffc.org.
