IEEE Las Vegas Computer Society November 10 2011 Meeting Announcement

The IEEE Las Vegas Computer Society Chapter would like to announce our next technical meeting with speaker Jim Morrow, Vice President, Strategic Architecture of Aristocrat Technologies, Inc speaking on public-private key cryptography and the gaming industry; and PKI: where can we expect Intel, Microsoft and others to lead us in its use in the future?

This meeting qualifies for one PDH.

Where: Memphis Championship BBQ, 2250 East Warm Springs Road, Las Vegas, NV 89119 near Eastern.

Cost: $20 meeting fee includes dinner, and first drink on us if you’re there for the social hour.

The first five students who RSVP will be treated on us. Please bring your student ID to the meeting.

Topic: Public-Private Key Cryptography and PKI

Speaker Bio [edited, all fault mine]:
As the Vice President of Aristocrat’s Research group, Jim Morrow is responsible for the global research and guiding strategic technical direction including software and hardware infrastructure in the US and Australia. Jim’s responsibilities include leading teams of talented engineers, artists and creative thinkers doing worldwide engineering of games and game associated products, including video slot games, steppers, hardware platforms, software bases, firmware circuitry, vendor peripherals, and special signage/top boxes. Aristocrat is a leading supplier of casino gaming machines, systems and services, worldwide.

Before joining Aristocrat, Jim worked as the Vice President, Advanced Development at Bally Gaming for 15 years. His experience includes eighteen years in the gaming industry with platform design and systems embedded devices. Atmospheric optical communication system design, RF-based security systems and sensors along with a host of radio-based consumer electronics form Jim’s additional background.

Jim holds a MS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado, as well as a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego. Jim sits on the Board for the Gaming Standards Association, and has previously served as Chair of the GSA BoB, G2S committees and is contributor to the GDS and S2S committees. Microsoft Embedded MVP, Intel key customer, McAfee and Dell customer advisory board member rounds out Jims recent industry affiliations.
