In 2015 January, the new IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society (TEMS) was formed to bring the importance of the management perspective on technology and engineering to IEEE members. The new TEMS will connect you with an active community that will give you access to expertise, knowledge, and education in a field that touches us all, as well as access to the Engineering Management Review publication, which compiles the best articles from sources such as the Harvard Business News.

FIRST is a K-12 robotics program founded by Dean Kamen (of Segway fame) that is designed to get kids interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM for short). In Memphis, there are a number of First Lego League Teams (30+), 14 First Robotics Competition teams and a few First Tech Challenge teams. All need mentors to help design, build and program robots. There is also a FLL Championship at the University of Memphis and a number of FRC Events to help the students with their robots all of which need volunteers.

IEEE Memphis is a proud sponsor of the West TN FLL Championship held at the University of Memphis and we strongly encourage our members to get involved in this wonderful program that encourages students to learn about engineering!
