2013 IEEE Career Advancement Workshop – May 18, 2013

Continuing Education

The 2013 Career Advancement Workshop offers the possibility to earn 0.6 CEU/6 PDH credits by attending all sessions. Attendees requesting a CEU credit will have to complete a CEU evaluation form at the end of each session. There is a $25 charge to cover the expenses involved in issuing the CEU certificate. This fee is to be paid at the workshop (cash or check).

CEU/PDH Credit Information

The CEU (Continuing Education Unit) is a currency that measures a person’s participation in a formal, non-credit continuing education program, such as a workshop, seminar, tutorial, or self-study course. As defined by the ANSI/IACET International Association for Continuing Education and TrainingStandards which are widely recognized as standards of good practice internationally (IACET). One CEU is equal to ten contact hours of instruction in a continuing education activity. Any activity less than one hour in duration is not eligible for CEUs.

Currently, thirty states require Professional Development Hours (PDHs) to maintain P.E. licensure, encouraging engineers to seek CEUs for their participation in Continuing Education Programs. IEEE CEUs readily translate into PDHs (1 CEU = 10 PDHs). Evidence of participation in these courses also helps engineers meet company training requirements.

IEEE Continuing Education Programs are peer-reviewed by content experts. This peer review guarantees both quality of the technical content of learning materials, as well as adherence to IEEE’s strict criteria for educational excellence. All programs that pass this strict process are entitled to award IEEE Continuing Education Units (CEUs), recognized as the standard of excellence for continuing education programs in IEEE’s fields of interest.
