Mehri Borhani Kakhki

Degree: Ph.D. Candidate, Electrical Engineering (Telecommunications)

Biography: Mehri is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Telecommunications engineering at INRS-EMT. She received her M.Sc. in Telecommunications engineering from University of Semnan, Iran, in 2015 and was awarded the title “Exceptionally Talented” student (1st rank). She started volunteering with IEEE YP Montréal in 2018, and had previously volunteered for several events in Montréal aiming at helping new comers. Besides her interest in developing innovative RF/Microwave components and antenna design, she enjoys photography, camping, and biking. She is also passionate about meeting people and getting involved in charity activities.

Fatma Ouertani

Degree: M. Sc. in Biomedical Engineering at l’École de Technologie Supérieure

Biography: Fatma is currently working at Analogic Canada as a System Designer. She fulfilled her Masters in Biomedical Engineering at École de Technologie Supérieure. Before, she is graduated in Telecommunication engineering from École Supérieure des Communications de Tunis, Tunisia. Her research interests cover medical image processing. She enjoys painting and walking in nature. She recently joined IEEE Montreal Young Professionals team because she wants to get more involved with volunteering activities especially professional.

Armin Salimi

Degree: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering

Biography: Armin Salimi was born in Kermanshah, Iran in 1989. He received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in electrical (power) engineering from Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran and McGill University, Montreal, Canada, in 2012 and 2017, respectively.

He is currently with CanmetENERGY, Montreal, Canada, as a postdoctoral researcher. His research interests include machine learning and data mining techniques in power engineering applications, computer-aided design of electrical machines, multi-objective optimization, robust optimization, power electronics, and drive systems.

Bahareh Goodarzi

Degree: Ph.D. Candidate, Computer Science
Biography: Bahareh Goodarzi is a Ph.D. candidate in the Computer Science department of Concordia University. Her research focuses on the parallelization and scheduling of the irregular algorithms on GPUs. Bahareh Received her Master in Computer Engineering in 2009 from Sharif University of Technology and her bachelor in Computer Engineering in 2005 from Isfahan University of Technology. During her bachelor studies, she was a member of undergraduate student association and was active in planning networking events and scientific talks. Teaching is her passion and she is a senior lecturer in the Concordia Continuing Education Centre.
Bahareh is an enthusiastic sport-lover and she tries her hands on every possible sport including table tennis, squash, carting, ski, ice skating, badminton, and etcetera!!!

Melissa Vosough Tehrani

Degree: Master of Computer Engineering
Biography: Melissa is currently a Master’s student in computer engineering at Université de Montréal. During her bachelors, her focus was on development and testing of operating systems and other software such as file systems. Currently she mostly works on distributed computing and cloud security. Mobile applications world and data analysis are her other interests. When she says goodbye to her laptop, you can find her busy with various types of outdoor activities.

Mahmoud Kamel

Affiliation: Concordia University
Degree: PhD Candidate, Electrical and Computer Engineering
Biography: Mahmoud received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical and communication engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, in 2001 and 2013, respectively. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree with the Electrical and Communication Engineering Department, Concordia University. In 2005, he started working for the industry as a Mobile Technology Trainer in Telecom Egypt, SIEMENS, and Nokia Siemens Networks. He was with Academia in 2011. He was a Research Assistant with Cairo University, worked for an LTE-Advanced Research Project for two years. His current research interests are in the area of ultra-dense networks, Internet of Things, and wireless network virtualization. Mahmoud has a deep conviction that Academia and Industry are tightly related where the innovations in Industry must be backed by Advancements in Academia. Facilitating the interrelations and communications between Academia and Industry is thus on the top of his volunteering TO-DO checklist.

Nazanin Hashemi Attar

Degree: Ph.D. candidate, Electrical Engineering
Biography: Nazanin is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical Engineering at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. She has received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Ferdowsi University of Mashad at Iran in 2010 and 2013, respectively. From 2009 until 2013, she had been an active volunteer at IEEE student branch in Ferdowsi University of Mashad. In 2011, she was a member of the executive committee and was responsible for raising sponsorship money for the First National Workshop on Intelligent System and Softcomputoring at Ferdowsi University of Mashad. she has been an active volunteer since she has joined IEEE Young Professionals, Montreal Section in June 2016. Her current research interests are Discrete Event Systems (DES), fuzzy control systems and adaptive control.

Elnasser Youssef

Affiliation: Ph.D. student., Electrical & Computer Engineering
Degree: M.Sc. Electronics and Communications Engineering, 2013, Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Egypt.
Biography: Elnasser graduated top of his class in 2008 from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Egypt. As a result, he was offered to join the faculty as a full-time teaching and research assistant. He has been an IEEE student member since 2007, started volunteering with IEEE YP Montreal in 2016 and joined the executive committee in 2017.  His research focuses on digital signal processing and artificial intelligence applications. Whenever he is not glued to his desk in the lab, you will probably find him at the gym or at his Montreal apartment trying very hard not to be the worst “oud” player in the northern hemisphere.

Mohammad Hossain Mohammadi

Degree: Ph.D. candidate, Electrical Engineering
Biography: Hossain completed his M.Eng. (Thesis) in Electrical Engineering at McGill University in 2015. He received his B.S.E.E in May 2013 with the Valedictorian award from the American University in Dubai, UAE. In addition to his academic, he is actively involved with the IEEE Montreal Section and previously volunteered for the McGill IEEE Student Branch. During his spare time, he enjoys practicing soccer around Montreal or playing his flamenco guitar.
