Cost and Registration

There is a fee (paid to the IEEE New Orleans Section) for this class which covers the cost of the instructor, refreshments, and lunch. This class is open to all; you do not need to be an IEEE member to attend. Registration requires a credit card or PayPal account. The fee is $150 for IEEE members and $200 for non-members. Each person must register individually; there is no group registration. This event qualifies for 6 PDHs with IEEE. The registration for PDHs will be provided at the event.

 

MISO company overview

The Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc., formerly named Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator, Inc. (MISO) is an Independent System Operator (ISO) and Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) providing open-access transmission service and monitoring the high-voltage transmission system in the Midwest United States and Manitoba, Cana- da and a southern United States region which includes much of Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. MISO also operates one of the world’s largest real-time energy markets. MISO was established in 1998 as an ISO and was approved as the nation’s first RTO by FERC in 2001. The organization is head- quartered in Carmel, Indiana with operation control centers in Carmel and Eagan, Minnesota and Little Rock, Arkansas.

MISO is an independent and member-based non-profit organization. Its members include 81 transmission owners with more than 65,800 miles of transmission lines. Members include investor-owned utilities, public power utilities, and cooperatives, such as: Entergy, Indianapolis Power & Light, International Transmission Company, Great River Energy, Xcel Energy, and City Water Light and Power.

 

Presenter Bio

Edin Habibovic is the senior manager of expansion planning at MISO. He has worked for MISO for about 6 years, and before that, he worked for Entergy for 12 years.
