IEEE Young Professionals, earlier known as Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) is a program developed to help student members transition to young professionals. IEEE YP offers programs and services to graduating students, recent graduates and young engineers.
After you have graduated with your first professional degree, IEEE will identify you as an IEEE YP member. This is an automatic process. The IEEE YP identifier covers a 10-year period from this first graduation. If you continue your education into graduate work after graduation and remain an IEEE Student Member, you will not be identified as an IEEE YP member.
IEEE YP was first conceived in 1996, and was launched later that year at the IEEE Sections Congress. Since then, IEEE YP has moved forward in forming affinity groups, organized for professional development activities (technical, social, personal development, etc.).
Benefits of the IEEE YP program include:
- IEEE technology and information
- Online research & career resources
- Online job search
- Online seminars
- Professional networking opportunities
- Peer connection
- Local social activities
- Leadership opportunities
The IEEE Nigeria Young Professional affinity group focuses on events and activities for Young Professional (YP) members of IEEE. Any IEEE member who received their first professional degree within the last 15 years is considered a Young Professional. Any IEEE member can join YP events and activities.
