The meeting started at about 2:40pm with a brief introduction of IEEE and its goals by Engr. Tunde salihu. A Paper on “Investing in Human Capacity and Infrastructure for Growth and National Development” was presented by the HOD of the Electrical/Electronic Department, Engr. Dr. Oyetunji Samson A. It highlighted Nigeria’s history from independence and sources of revenue and problems of a monolithic economy. It also mentioned infrastructural decay as a very grievous problem, citing examples of Roads, Railways and Power. He concluded the paper by proposing the Singapore’s Model for Human Capacity development.

The second Paper on “National Security Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” was presented by the Dean of Student Affairs, Mr. Alase B. Kayode. It highlighted the importance of Security in its numerous applications and the need for an honest approach to the development of a National Database, as the beginning of the solutions to the several security threats in our country.

The administrative part of the meeting started at about 3:32pm with opening remarks by the Section Chair, Prof. Gloria Chukwudebe. The Section Chair started by expressing her gratitude to the HOD and Facilitators of the Meeting and used the opportunity to restate the history of the IEEE and its goals. She emphasized the fact that we are all beneficiaries of IEEE. Using IEEE standards like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as examples. The Section Chair highlighted some of the Conferences and Events of the year and thanked everyone for coming. The Section Chair informed that Elections have been conducted and new members of EXCO elected.

The PES Chair, Engr. Kehinde Temikotan informed that a workshop is scheduled for the 2nd week of December. The Robotics Chair, Engr. Raphael Onoshakpor, told of the several successful workshops organized by the Robotics group and enjoined the Staff and Students of FUTA to seize the opportunity to participate and benefit from the their activities. The EMC Chair, Engr. Tunde Salihu, started by introducing the Students to EMC (ElectroMagnetic Compatibility) and stressed that EMC is vital to every walk of life.

The meeting came to a close at about 4:40pm.
