Wind Energy Conversion Technologies for Grid and Stand-Alone Applications

2017-10-10 @ 15:00 - 16:00

Control strategies for wound rotor induction generator (WRIG) with certain power converter topologies will be discussed for effective utilization of wind energy. Firstly, for the effective utilization of available wind power in grid-connected WRIG, space heating and battery loads to be connected at rotor side through power electronic converter, which is a three-phase diode bridge rectifier along with IGBT chopper. Further, to operate the grid-connected & stand-alone WRIG system in wide speed operation (both in sub-synchronous speed and super-synchronous speed), a simple topology which consists of single SPWM inverter and battery banks at the rotor side of doubly fed induction generators will be presented.

Further, small-scale wind-PV distributed generation system for supplying AC/DC loads of telecommunication tower will be discussed.
