IEEE Australian MTT/AP Chapters
Student Conference Paper Presentation Travel Grant

Consistent with its corporate objective of promoting the science and practice of electrical and electronics engineering, the Australian IEEE MTT/AP Chapters are
pleased to offer limited financial support to IEEE MTT/AP student member authors wishing to present accepted papers at IEEE or approved non-IEEE conferences. (Click here for details)

To receive a grant the recipient must:
• Be an IEEE MTT or AP society member prior to submitting travel grant application.
• Be a student (or have been at the time of paper submission deadline) and carry at least 50% of a normal full-time academic program as a registered undergraduate or graduate student in a regular course of study.
• Be the author or co-author of an accepted paper in the conference
• Have contributed to at least 50% of the research presented.
• Attend the conference and present the paper.

Reports due date: One month after conference attendance

 

Funding Support to attend the WIE International Leadership Summit in Brisbane

The WIE International Leadership Summit will be held in Brisbane from the 26th to 27th of November 2018.

The summit was launched as a part of IEEE WIE’s portfolio of global initiatives that focus on Inspiration, Leadership, Empowerment and Entrepreneurship mid to senior women in technology. Summit provide opportunities for networking, mentorship, and collaboration.

At the June Section meeting on the 4th of June 2018 financial sponsorship of up to $750 was approved for four NSW WIE members (male or female).

NSW WIE members can apply for the financial sponsorship using the electronic form linked below. The four best applications will be selected. The summit is for both male and female WIE members and if applicable at least one male will receive sponsorship. For the four NSW IEEE WIE members selected, the financial sponsorship will take place as a rebate for all expenses related to the event up to the value of $750. Invoices will need to be provided for all costs claimed. In order to receive the rebate the member must provide the NSW Section with a YouTube video, blog or other engaging media that showcases the benefit of participation at the event, and the benefit of being an IEEE member that can be promoted on the sections website and other platforms.

Call for Nomination/EOI for Appointment of Officers of the Australian IEEE WIE AGs Forum

This is a call for nomination/Expression of Interest to fill the two positions of the Australian IEEE WIE AGs Forum, namely Forum Coordinator and Forum Liaison Officer. Please find attached

Terms of Reference document (Click here) describing the role and responsibilities of the officers.

It is expected that the appointed officers would strive to maintain the momentum generated by WIE volunteers for the WIE International Leadership Summit in November this year in Brisbane and bring together WIE volunteers to support future endeavours e.g. R10 SYW Congress or WIE track at technical conferences hosted by any IEEE Section in Australia. The immediate task will be to build a social media platform (e.g. Facebook page) to exhibit WIE activities across Australia and facilitate interaction among WIE volunteers. Both positions provide opportunities for personal development and to demonstrate leadership skills at national level.

Nomination by Section Chair or self-nomination by IEEE WIE members in Australia for any or both positionswould be acceptable. There is no prescribed form or template to apply. An Expression of Interest or nomination for each position can be submitted by providing member’s name, IEEE membership number and category along with a short statement to highlight the qualification/experience relevant to the position. Volunteers are also requested to address following questions in their EOI:

  1. How much time would you be able to spend to carry out your responsibility throughout the year?
  2. What do you see your vision as within the role?
  3. How do you see the expected outcomes/achievements will be delivered over the next 6 – 12 months period?

The last date to receive Expression of Interest or nomination is Sunday, 24 June 2018. An AC panel will scrutinized the received submissions and forward its recommendation to AC Committee for approval of appointments.
