IEEE OC CyberSecurity Monthly (Apr 26, 2017) Technical Talk

CyberPatriot – Engaging Middle, High School and Community College Students
This presentation will overview SoCalCCCC*’s involvement with the local K-12 Districts and the
Community Colleges that participate in CyberPatriot. It will be informative for anyone who is
interested in cyber defense competition volunteering, sponsorship and gameplay. The presentation
will cover the event lifecycle for colleges hosting in our region, training and team development for
K-12, the CyberPatriot competition timeline and training timeline along with some examples from the
competition and hands on preview.

SoCalCCCC is collaborative effort of Cerritos College, Coastline Community College, Cypress College, El Camino, Fullerton College, Irvine Valley College, and Long Beach City College that began in 2015 with the goal of developing pathways to success in cybersecurity for K-12 students in Orange County, California. It’s primary focus is in building teams in the southern California area to compete in CyberPatriot’s national cyber defense competition. Vision is for all SoCal high schools and middle schools to have the opportunity to learn about cybersecurity and compete in CyberPatriot.
