First blind woman to get PhD in Pakistan

Bereft of eyesight, but enlightened from within, Dr. Farzana Saleman, a blind lecturer, has become Pakistan’s First Blind woman to get a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in any field by obtaining the prestigious degree in Islamic Studies.

She said she had studied scholars like Shibli Naumani, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Ghulam Ahmed Pervez and others but Abul Ala Maududi was the best of them. She said,

“His logical and reformist writings have really fascinated me as I studied Tarjumanul Quraan since my childhood “
