Early Access Articles Now Available

The Editorial Team of IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication announces the immediate availability of Early Access. According to the IEEE, Early Access content is “new content made available in advance of the final electronic or print versions …. “  All content published on Early Access are “peer-reviewed and edited but not yet paginated,” because they are being published online as soon as they’re ready—weeks or months ahead of the print schedule.

Early Access eliminates the lag time in publishing peer-reviewed content and provides  readers with access to articles as soon as they are ready for publication.  The content is fully citable.

For authors, the publication date in Early Access becomes the publication date of record for the article.  For researchers who are assessed by output, this ensures that they receive credit for the publication much sooner than was possible in the past, because the formal publication date is the date the article is published in Early Access.

To see the articles in Early Access, visit the IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication page in the IEEExplore database at

Look for Early Access in the middle of the page.  Click on the orange VIEW ARTICLES button beside the words Early Access.  The system displays the articles available online.

Make sure to sign into IEEExplore with your IEEExplore userid and password so you can view the articles.
