SEpt-LatestWagnerCharles L. (Chuck) Wagner, 88, of Export, died Aug. 5, 2014. He was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Navy, after which he earned the BSEE degree from the Bucknell University and the MSEE degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

He spent his entire professional career with Westinghouse Electric, following the path set by his father, Charles F. Wagner. He was president of the IEEE Power Engineering Society in 1984-5 and served as the PES TC Chair prior to that. He authored over 85 technical papers and was the recipient of numerous honors of distinction, including the IEEE Herman Halperin Transmission and Distribution Award and the IEEE Charles Proteus Steinmetz Award.

Chuck was elected an IEEE Fellow “for contributions in the field of extra-high voltage transmission, protective relaying, and power circuit breaker applications”. He was also elected to the US National Academy of Engineering

His wife, Rachel, preceded him in death. Two sons, a daughter and eight grandchildren survive Chuck.
