Benefits to Industry and PES Members from the Committee Work:
The documents above will be beneficial to the respective groups, generally in the area of utility power systems, industrial / petroleum plants, and nuclear facilities.
Benefits to Volunteer Participants from the Committee Work:
Volunteers involved in ICC work have the ability to influence the standards and guides used in the industry in which they work. ICC participation also provides opportunities to hear interesting and often educational presentations on relevant industry activities.
Recognition of Outstanding Performance:
ICC Certificates of Appreciation
IEEE PES Technical Committee Certificates of Appreciation
2016 IEEE-SA Standards Medallion
Tim Wall has been selected as a recipient of the IEEE-SA Standards Medallion “for extraordinary leadership as chair of Working Group B16W in completing the 2016 revision for IEEE Standard 386” Separable Insulated Connector Systems for Power Distribution Systems Rated 2.5 kV through 35 kV. This award will be presented to him at a dinner ceremony to be held in Somerset, New Jersey on December 4, 2016.
2016 CIGRE Honorary Member
Also in Session years, the Honorary Member awards are granted to a maximum of ten members who have proven participation in CIGRE technical activities in a leadership role of CIGRE, and for members whose service of CIGRE has been judged exceptional. This year Pierre Argaut has been recognized for his contribution to CIGRE as Chairman of Study Committee B1 “Insulated Cables” (2010 – 2016).
2016 IEEE PES Technical Committee Working Group Recognition Award
Name of Working Group: C2 – Guide for High Voltage Cable Sheath Bonding (IEEE 575-2014 Guide for Bonding Sheaths and Shields of Single-Conductor Power Cables Rated 5 – 500 kV)
Chair of Working Group: Michael Buckweitz
Vice Chair: Thomas Champion
Members of Working Group: Torben Aabo, Richard W. Allen, Jr., Pierre Argaut, Ray Awad, Earle C. Bascom, III, Mohamed Chaaban, John H. Cooper, Dennis F. DeCosta, Swapan K. 2016 Technical Committee Distinguished Service Award
Nirmal Singh received the 2016 Technical Committee Distinguished Service Award with the following citation: For leadership in Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) of high-voltage gas- and liquid-filled cable systems, and furthering the understanding of gas analysis and its meaning.
Coordination with Other Entities (PES Committees, CIGRE, standards, etc.):
IAS/PCIC, PES/NPEC, and PES/PGC. In addition coordination with CSA, Mexico, and UL takes place on a working group level for some selected standards for which there is mutual interest.
Significant Plans for the Next Period:
There are many guides and standards coming up for revision within the ICC. The group plans to work toward revisions to these documents as required.
PES is looking to increase involvement with members from Regions 8, 9 and 10 (Africa, Europe, Middle East, Latin America, Asia and Pacific). Please provide the following information
