Young Professionals make a great showing at the PES GM

The PES-YP events at the General Meeting in Chicago were a big success, we had the opportunity to share with the chapter chairs the importance of getting PES-YP activities; as for our official events:

  • The YP panel had around 30 people Filter in and out and we received great feedback on the presentations. Thank you to ComEd, Burns & McDonnell, and Idaho National Labs for sending your people to speak at our event.
  • The Joint WiP/PES-YP Reception was standing room only. Offers were made to volunteer for a few of the open regional rep positions.
  • The PES-YP Social Event was held at the Navy Pier, and was attended by nearly 50 YPs and students. Thank you to Umama Tasnia the IEEE-R4 YP rep for coordinating this event.

The PES-YP Twitter #Milestelfie photo contest runs till September 15, 2017.While at the conference I took the opportunity to visit the IEEE-Milestone at S&C Electric to show how easy it is to take a #Milestelfie.

Current totals on the contest: @apavrin is in the lead with 2 #Milestelfies, with no competition. Make sure you make plans to visit some cool IEEE-Historical sites and the chance to win the apple watch and give @apavrin some competition.  Visit our website for details at http://site.ieee.org/pes-yp/milestelfies-photo-contest/

Remember when you share your IEEE Historical selfie to tag @IEEEPESYP#Milestelfie, and tag @IEEEHistory.
