The Spring 2018 Meeting of IEEE PES Transformers Committee will be held March 25 to 29, 2018 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the Omni William Penn Hotel. This is a significant meeting, as the Committee will celebrate 100 years of transformer standards development, and the evolution of the Transformers Committee and all that it has accomplished.

The roots of the committee go back to 1918 when a subcommittee of Standards Committee ‘No 8 Transformers’ was formed to contribute to the Standardization Rules of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE), the single common standard of the AIEE at that time.  AIEE and IRE (Institute of Radio Engineers) merged to form the IEEE in 1963.

The Pittsburgh Meeting will start with a special reception and banquet dinner on Sunday evening, with many IEEE PES dignitaries joining in the celebration. Additional information will be forthcoming on the Committee’s website http://www.transformerscommittee.org/. All are welcome to join us at the meeting.
