PES Volunteers are the heart of our society
As the 2017 year is getting to the end, we are very happy amount the total of colleagues that find a great value on the PES Membership. By the end of November we are over the 38,000 PES Members!!! Congratulations to all our PES Volunteers for the great job organizing technical activities all around the world. The IEEE PES Membership Development Committee is responsible to identify new benefits, new marketing campaigns, support and run PES activities on all IEEE Regions. I would like to introduce our PES members, the name of the PES volunteers looking to help you. All of them have been working during 2017 to provide new ideas to PES and had worked to run new initiatives on the world. Thank you!!!
Luis Felipe Gaitan Cubides is a student of Electrical Engineering in the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas. He led the PES student chapter during 2014 as vice-chair and in 2015 as president of the chapter and the student branch. During his administration, the IEEE student branch, achieved the Second Place Case of Success Contest in the RRR 2015, Second Place in the TISP Contest IEEE R9, First Place in the Success Contest in the IEEE National Meeting 2015, First Place in the R9 Membership Contest, and the Exemplary Student Branch Award in R9. In addition, the PES chapter was in the top 10 of the PES High Performing Student Branch Chapter Program. He is member of the IEEE PES Membership Development Committee and editor in the IEEE Magazine “Enlaces.”
Swetha Sridharan, is currently doing her Masters In Electrical Engineering at Texas A&M University, College Station. She started to get involved in IEEE from 2011 when pursuing her Bachelors in Electronic and Instrumentation from Jeppiaar Engineering College, India. She was the Chairman of the IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter from 2014-2015. She was one amongst the five people selected from India to attend the First IEEE PES Student Congress in Anakara, Turkey in 2014. She was the R10 Regional Representative for IEEE PES Women in Power and the IEEE PES Madras Chapter Student Representative from 2014-2015. She continued to passionately volunteer in IEEE PES at Texas A&M. She is the TAMU IEEE PES-PELS-IAS Student officer, and was the Registration Chair was the first student run Conference Texas Power and Energy Conference(TPEC) 2017. She is the webmaster for the US-Canada IEEE PES Student Congress and a part IEEE PES Membership team. Her vision for IEEE PES is to “provide a platform for all electrical engineers to collaborate on their research to invent new technology that will change the world.”
Mohammad Seif is 27 years old Electrical Power Engineer from Egypt. He is one of the active IEEE Young Professionals members in the field of Power and Energy. In 2009, He was one of the IEEE Ain Shams University student branch founders (in IEEE Egypt section, Region 8). He is graduated from the department of Electric Power and Machines – Faculty of Engineering – Ain Shams University in 2011. Now, He is studying for the Masters of Science degree in the Smart Grid field. He is working in the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company as an operation and maintenance engineer. Since 2015, He is volunteering in the membership development committee of IEEE Power and Energy Society also in the Educational Committee of IEEE Smart Grid. He has contributed in the IEEE Region 8 Students & Young Professionals Congress in 2016 and in the IEEE Middle East Students & Young Professionals Congress in 2017 as the IEEE Power Energy Society “PES” representative. He is leading an IEEE PES initiative called Power & Energy Neighbors Congress “PENC” with Miss Manel Rebhi from IEEE Tunisia section; which is a technical & social meeting for the IEEE PES student branch chapters of the neighboring countries and this initiative has started between IEEE PES ISSAT Sousse (Tunisia) and IEEE PES Ain Shams University (Egypt) in 2016. His vision for IEEE Power and Energy Society is to help in the outreach of the PES in Region 8 especially in Africa via representing IEEE PES in the regional meetings and congresses. Waiting for more progress in the near future!
Manel Rabhi is a 24 years old Industrial Data women Engineer from Tunisia. She is one of the active IEEE student members in the field of Power and Energy. In 2014, she was one of the IEEE ISSAT Sousse University student branch founders (in IEEE Tunisia section, Region 8). In 2017, she leaves her native Section to join France Section as student member and establish a new student Branch on her new university ENSIM on Le Mans. She is graduated from the department of Computer sciences Engineering – Higher Institute of A.Sciences and Technology – Sousse University in 2017. Now, she is studying for the Masters of Management and Business administration on France. Since 2015, she is volunteering in the membership development committee of IEEE Power and Energy Society. She has contributed in the IEEE Tunisian Students & Young Professionals Congress in 2016 and she is an IEEE DAY 2017 AMBASSADOR on France Section . She is leading an IEEE PES initiative called Power & Energy Neighbors Congress “PENC” with Mr Mohamed Seif Eddine from IEEE Egypt section; which is a technical & social meeting for the IEEE PES student branch chapters of the neighboring countries and this initiative has started between IEEE PES ISSAT Sousse (Tunisia) and IEEE PES Ain Shams University (Egypt) in 2016. She published an article.on IEEE PES. Her vision for IEEE Power and Energy Society is involving all IEEE members on a big challenge «PES Got Talents » in Region 8 especially in Africa via representing IEEE PES in the regional meetings and congresses.
Juan David Gomez Ariza. He is a Design Engineer at IEB Ingeniería Especializada in Colombia. He had been a Secretary Chapter Power and Energy PES UD, Publicity coordinator for the IEEE PES SAC Team Colombia and Designer of advertising for the disclosure of the different society programs’ for IEEE PES SAC Team Colombia.
John Benedict. He is a recent Electronics and Communication graduate from Vignana Bharathi Institute of Technology and a great volunteer at IEEE having participated/volunteered/organized more than 100 IEEE events in the past 4 years. He currently works at Amazon Development Centre India.
Gitansh Anand. He is 25 years old, Electronics & Communication Engineer from India. He is one of the active IEEE Young Professionals members in the field of Power and Energy. Since the beginning of his volunteering career, he has contributed extensively across section, Region 10 & global executive boards. Since 2015, He is volunteering in the membership development committee of IEEE Power and Energy Society and currently part of MGA IEEE.tv advisory committee. He loves bringing together like minds and is a SAP consultant by profession.
