DLP Lectures

The lecture within the IEEE Distinguished Lecturer Program “Power Quality in Power Electronics Empowered Transmission Networks” was presented by Prof J V Milanovic on 22 December 2017 at Electrical Engineering institute “Nikola Tesla” in Belgrade, Serbia. The meeting and the lecture was attended by 24 participants, 5 of them were IEEE Members, 21 researchers and three from industry.

Technical workshops

IEEE PES Slovenia Chair Assoc. Prof. Andrej Gubina, gave a presentation at Croatian Science meeting (left) entitled, an event about clean energy developments (29/11/2017, Varaždin, Croatia) and two lectures (center and right) at IEEE PES BiH event “Shape the future”(27/11/2017, Sarajevo, B&H). The lectures entitled “European regional research initiatives in the frame of Horizon 2020” and “Electricity markets: How do they work and why do we need them?” were presented to IEEE PES members and other students and industry stakeholders that are interested in the topic.

Together with CIGRE SRBIJA, the IEEE Power and Energy Society, Chapter for Serbia and Montenegro, organized during the national CIGRE conference a workshop entitled “TSO-DSO cooperation on Grid code amendment due to newest transmission system challenges” within PES framework “More power for the future”. The workshop was held on 6/6/2017 at Zlatibor, Serbia.

There were 44 attendees among them the 10 IEEE members.

The inauguration of the first IEEE Sweden Milestone “The Gotland HVDC Link” on May 15th 2017at Gotland. The Gotland HVDC Link was the world’s first commercial HVDC transmission link using the first submarine HVDC cable. It connects the island Gotland to the mainland Sweden by a 96 km-long mass-impregnated submarine cable. The Swedish manufacturer ASEA (now ABB) produced the link for Vattenfall, the state-owned utility. The event was attended by several key persons from both industry and academia, and the ceremony was led by leading managers at ABB, Vattenfall and Sweden IEEE.

Student Activities

Czech PES and Student Branch are organizing cycling and energy conference in one day.

A workshop with presentations from the industry co-organized with the IEEE Cyprus Section and the UCY Student Branch (IEEE Day event).

Power and Energy Student PESS 2017 conference held in Erlangen/Nürnberg, Germany

Awards and Recognition

IEEE PES Chapter Outstanding Engineer Award 2016 was given to prof. dr Zoran Radojević (on the left) by chapter chair Dr Zarko Janda (on the right) on May/18/2017 for more than 15 years of dedicated IEEE PES Serbia & Montenegro Chapter service and leadership.
