IEEE G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) IAS-PES Joint Chapter, SB celebrated Global PES Day on 17th April, 2018. The event commenced at a very early in the morning at 7:45 AM. In the first session, there was a Project Presentation Session on solar applications, which was judged by Prof. Hemit Patel, Prof. Vivek Patel, Prof. Akash Jain and Prof. Loykesh Panchal. Various projects were exhibited, such as solar car, wireless solar charger, and solar charger. The next session was organized in the auditorium. In this session, Dr. Hardik Pathak enlightened the students about importance of IEEE and Dr. Smita Joshi presented “Importance of Solar Energy” in her session. After that our guest of honour Dr. Gaurav Mishra, Director of SPRERI, conducted his session on “Importance and Status of Renewable Energy”. In his session he covered topics like status of energy sources in India, fossil fuels, energy security and demand: Indian scenario, usages of various renewable energy sources and many more.

He ended his session with a note, “A plethora of renewable energy is all around us, with even more ways to make use of it”.

Later Prof. Rakesh Patel, Chairperson PES Gujarat Section apprised students about the benefits of PES and brought closure to the event by thanking the guest of honor for sparing there valuable time. There was a cake cutting ceremony and chocolates were distributed amongst the students to mark this felicitous day. The event concluded at 12:30 PM.
