At the August Governing Board Meeting, the IEEE Power & Energy Society Governing Board approved several changes to the Society’s Bylaws. Each change required a two-thirds vote of the Board. Under the changes, Graduate Student Members have the same rights and privileges as Members, including the right to vote. The change was made in recognition of the rapid growth of this membership segment within PES, and because heretofore Graduate Student Members could vote on IEEE matters, but not Society matters. The duties and responsibilities of two Vice Presidents were also modified to assign volunteer leadership to certain activities. The Vice President-Education or their designee is now responsible for the PES-Careers job board, student scholarships and the PES Resource Center. The Vice President-Membership and Image is no longer responsible for student scholarships.
