As a part of IEEE PES Day celebration, several events were organized across the section by IEEE PES/IAS Joint Chapter Uttar Pradesh Section. A total of seven events including inauguration of SBC, cake cutting, tree plantation, social gathering, workshop, and a technical talk were conducted in different parts of the Uttar Pradesh Section by the PES/IAS Joint Chapter in association with local student chapters.

A cake cutting ceremony was organized at IIT (BHU) Varanasi and IIT Kanpur on 22^ndApril 2019. A brief talk on history of IEEE Power & Energy Society, it’s functioning, current governing board and member benefits delivered by IEEE senior members. The events were attended by members of the power engineering community. On this occasion, a tree plantation drive was organized at KIET Group of Institutions Ghaziabad on 22^nd April 2019 and atMNNIT Allahabad on 26^thApril 2019. Both the events were focused on membership improvement and promotion of PES.  At MNNIT a combined meeting of all the faculty members of the department with the PG and Ph.D. students was conducted to motivate the students to join the IEEE, attend the webinars, write research papers and present them in the IEEE conferences to gain experience. In line with the ongoing celebration, the inauguration of IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter REC Ambedkar Nagar was also done on 30^th April 2019. The chief guest of the event Dr. Sandeep Anand Chair, PES/IAS Joint Chapter Uttar Pradesh Section, delivered an expert lecture on the topic “GaN-based high frequency compact DC-DC converter”. A brief introduction of IEEE, IEEE PES, and IEEE IAS were given by Mr. Saurabh Kesherwani, secretory IEEE PES SBC IIT Kanpur.

All these events were coordinated by highly motivated PES members like Dr. Nitin Singh (MNNIT Allahabad), Dr. Brijesh Singh (KIET Ghaziabad), Dr. MA Husain (REC Ambedkar Nagar), Mr. Devesh Shukla (IIT Varanasi) and Mr. Saurabh Kesherwani (IIT Kanpur) and successfully happened under the banner of IEEE PES/IAS Joint Chapter Uttar Pradesh Section.
