PES Day Celebration: PES UFT SB Chapter

On April 30 the PES of the Federal University of Tocantins – UFT celebrated with a lecture given by Professor Msc. Alex Vilarindo de Menezes the PES DAY 2019. The event consisted of a lecture focused on energy efficiency where the Konnex Building Automation Protocol (KNX) was presented.

With great pride, PES UFT took PES Day to university academics for the first time, with a current theme of great importance at the moment. We have the presence of 34 listeners, among them academics of different periods, from freshmen to the trainees.

Aiming at energy efficiency in electrical installations, equipment and devices, the implementation of the concept of automation is presented as a promising solution in the energy market, linked precisely to the idea of reducing the use of electricity too much. The higher the demand for electricity, the higher the demand for generation, which makes it necessary to use thermoelectric plants responsible for emitting a large amount of undesirable gasses in the Terrestrial atmosphere. Moreover, the increase in electricity consumption results in an increase in the dealers, something unwanted in homes, companies, industries or any industry.

Automation enters as an ally for more conscious use of electricity, connecting equipment only when needed, such as for use in Lighting System.

The lecture by Prof. Msc. Alex Vilarindo de Menezes stressed the importance of a well-designed project and how an automation system brings savings to an installation. The main example presented was the application of the KNX System in the lighting circuit of some buildings, along with the appropriated lighting project, which obtained promising results referring to energy efficiency.
