On Wednesday, 26 June 2019 IEEE PES President Professor Saifur Rahman visited the headquarters of RTE, the French transmission system operator (TSO) in Paris. This was a part of the PES president’s outreach to the electric power industry, to learn more about the industry’s needs and expectations from PES, and develop mechanisms to implement some of the mutually beneficial programs. Réseau de Transport d’Électricité (Electricity Transmission Network), usually known as RTE, is the electricity transmission system operator of France, which is responsible for the operation, maintenance and development of the French high-voltage transmission system (largest in Europe).

During the visit along with Prof. Saifur Rahman following key personnel were present:

  • Bruno Meyer, the IEEE Division VII director
  • Herve Laffaye, Director General of RTE
  • Pierre Mallet, Director of R&D and Innovation, ENEDIS
  • Yannick Jacquemart, Director at RTE
  • Sebastian Henry, IEEE PES France Chapter Chair
