A major event in August was IEEE PES General Meeting held at Atlanta, GA during 4-8 August 2019. It was a very successful event, full of world class technical and professional panels, poster sessions, workshops, awards gala, receptions, networking events, live streaming of some sessions, student, Women in Power, and Yong Professional programs. In the Board of Governor’s Corner of this August issue, we shared an article written by Dr. Jessica Bian, where she shaded lights on PES GM 2019 along with her exquisite experience as a Secretary of PES Governing Board since 2016. I was very excited to see the launching of PES University activity at PES GM 2019 and PES President Prof. Saifur Rahman explained “This is the first online university created by any IEEE society or council.” A brief update on PES University is included in this issue. A corporate engagement event was also held at PES GM involving three US corporate participants and an update on that event is reported in this issue.

I am very delighted to introduce you Dr. Mazana Armstrong, IEEE PES Vice-President Chapters in our special section, namely “Humans of IEEE PES”. As you may have noticed, in this section, we cover interview of a dedicated PES volunteer who is well known for his/her notable contribution to IEEE PES.

In this issue you will be getting a very informative update on Region 6 PES Chapters from Naim Logic, IEEE PES Region 6 representative. The Women in Power is sharing the motivation of a PES volunteer Larissa Affolabi who is a graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology. In the PES Student Branch Chapter’s Corner, there are updates from PES University of Manchester SB Chapter. In PES day Celebration Section, a report from IEEE Guanajuato and Queretaro Joint Sections PES Chapter is published.

It is a matter of great regret that recently we lost a dedicated PES volunteer Prof. Mohamed “Mo” El-Hawary who was the president of IEEE Canada (2002 to 2003) and a distinguished lecturer of IEEE PES. An obituary is reported in this issue.

I hope you will like the mix of articles published in August issue of PES Enews. We need your cordial cooperation in publishing recent PES activities. If you are interested to serve the PES Enews Team, please contact with me.
