São Bernardo do Campo is located in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, more precisely in the region of Great ABC Paulista, which also comprises Santo André, São Caetano do Sul, Diadema, Mauá, Ribeirão Pires e Rio Grande da Serra.

It has approximately 800 thousand inhabitants and about 408 km², being more than 50% of this area of environmental preservation. Due to its history being closely linked to the country’s history of industrialization, with about 100 thousand workers in 1,200 industries, the city is one with one of the highest GDPs in the country.

It is also important in the field of culture, arts, gastronomy and sports, having hosted several events, including games of the Brazilian Volleyball Team.

In 2012, São Bernardo do Campo received its Campus of Universidade Federal do ABC, which became one of the best universities in the country in a very short time due to its great scientific presence and innovative method of teaching.
