Paul is President & CEO, International Information Management Corporation; Director, IST-Africa Institute; Coordinator of mHealth4frika; Adjunct/Visiting Professor, International University of Management (IUM, Namibia), and Visiting Senior Fellow, Wrexham Glyndŵr University (Wales).

At IIMC, Paul works as a technology, strategy, and policy expert for international and national government organizations and European and nationally funded research and innovation programs in Europe and Africa.

Supported by the European Commission and African Union Commission, IST-Africa (www.IST-Africa.org) is a strategic collaboration with ministries and national councils responsible for innovation, science and technology in 18 African Member States. IST-Africa Institute is a member of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network.

mHealth4Afrika (www.mHealth4Afrika.org) is validating the co-design of a modular state-of-the-art mHealth platform focused on strengthening primary healthcare delivery in resource constrained environments. Supported by the European Commission, mHealth4Afrika is collaborating with Ministries of Health, local universities, District Health Offices and clinic healthcare staff in Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi and South Africa.

Recognised by Enterprise Ireland as an Irish Champion of EU Research (2015, 2017), Paul’s research interests include: entrepreneurship in Africa; social implications of technology; ethics; and leveraging technology in health, food security, energy & education.

Paul is 2017 – 2018 President, IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology (SSIT); 2018 Chair, IEEE Humanitarian Activities Committee; Member, IEEE Technical Activities Board & IEEE Global Public Policy Committee; Founder, IEEE SSIT IST-Africa SIGHT (Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology); IEEE SSIT Distinguished Lecturer (sustainable development, research ethics); and IEEE Access Associate Editor.

Paul (pcunningham@ieee.org) is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin (TCD), UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and the Kodaly Institute (Hungary). He has also studied at postgraduate level in the USA and is completing a PhD at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV), Stockholm University.
