What is Performance Engineering and How is it Relevant?

March 28 @ 9:30 pm - 11:15 pm

Most of us have some vague clues of what performance engineering is but what is its value and relevance? In this informal presentation, we will take a random walk into this field, see how it relates to our world, and how it can be best applied.

Dr. Danny Moore is a Systems Engineer with the MITRE Corporation located in McLean Virginia as a trusted advisor to the government. Prior to joining MITRE, Danny was heavily involved in process improvement with industry leaders that include Rockwell Collins, United Airlines, Thermo Fisher, Boehringer Mannheim, Agilent, Compaq Computer, Western Geophysical and Rubbermaid with certifications as a Lean Master, Project Management Professional, Master Black Belt, and ASQ SS Black Belt. He co-chairs the 509/511 Lean Six Sigma SIG.

He holds degrees from Texas A&M University, University of Houston, an MBA with Information Systems and Computer Technology certification from Shenandoah University as well as a doctorate in Information Science and Communication from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh. He is now completing a Masters of Science in Health Services with a thesis on “A Systems Approach to Health in Developing Countries” and will be returning to Nicaragua in August for a third medical trip. His favorite pleasure is hang time with his extended family. After graduation, he plans to continue mission work to mature a medical care network in Nicaragua, conduct research in systems and analytics, and promote telecare in developing countries.
