What is the IEEE Canada Student Congress?
The IEEE Canada Student Congress is an Annual Student Leadership Conference that has been running for over 20 years. Student Branch leaders come together from across Canada to share branch operations knowledge, collaborate with each other on activities and initiatives, and network with IEEE Canada committee members and volunteers.
IEEE Canada Student Congress 2019 is set to take place at the Sutton Place Hotel in Edmonton, AB from May 3rd to 5th, 2019.
Who can attend?
IEEE Student Branch Leaders and Counsellors may register to attend the Student Congress. The registration fee is 100 CAD for all attendees which will include accommodations as needed from Thursday evening check-in to Sunday morning check-out. Meals are also included from Friday night to Sunday afternoon.
Travel reimbursements from IEEE Canada for up to 700 CAD are provided for ONE Student Branch Representative who has never attended an IEEE Canada Student Congress in the past. This representative should ideally be the Student Branch Chair or Vice Chair for the 2019-2020 school year. However, any Student Branch Leader or Counsellor for the upcoming school year who has not attended the Congress previously can be the Student Branch Representative who is eligible for the travel reimbursement. It is recommended that branches hold their elections in March at the latest so that the new Student Branch Leaders and Counsellors have enough time to register and plan for the event.
Additional Student Branch Leaders and Counsellors may attend if space is available, but they will be responsible for their own travel expenses. Please contact us if you would like to send additional members so that they can be placed on the waiting list. We advise you to request funding for travel costs and registration fees from external sources such as your institution, Student Branch, and/or Section. Normally, funding requests and grant applications take some time to be processed, so please plan and apply ahead of time. Be sure to reach out to your Student Branch Counsellors as they are faculty members and may know about other funding options available.
The deadline for registration is April 7th, 2019. Register Now!
