The IEEE Western New York Image and Signal Processing Workshop (WNYISPW) was held on Friday, December 4, 2015, at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY.

41 people attended the Western New York Image and Signal Processing Workshop this year including 22 guest and 19 IEEE members.

Two keynote speakers included: Dr. Dhrun Batra from Virginia Tech who presented on “Visual Question Answering (VQA) (and other diverse musings)”, and Dr. Regine Choe from the University of Rochester, Department of Biomedical Engineering who presented on “Diffuse Optical and Correlation Tomography for Monitoring Treatments for Bone Graft and Breast Cancer”.

The Section is grateful to Nathan Cahill and others of the SP Society for hosting such a successful event!   We also thank Mark Schrader for taking a number of great photos at the event!

Overview of event:

The WNYISPW is a venue for promoting image and signal processing research in our area and for facilitating interaction between academic researchers, industry researchers, and students. The workshop builds off of 17 successful years of prior workshops in Western New York. The workshop comprises both oral and poster presentations.

Topics included:
– Formation, Processing, and/or Analysis of Signals, Images, or Video
– Computer Vision
– Information Retrieval
– Image and Color Science
– Applications of Image and Signal Processing, including: Medical Image and Signal Analysis, Audio Processing and Analysis, Remote Sensing, Archival Imaging, Printing, Consumer Devices, Security, Surveillance, Document Imaging, Art Restoration and Analysis, and Astronomy
